MFK stays away from Parliament

WILLEMSTAD--Curaçao opposition party MFK of the former Prime Minister Gerrit Schotte is boycotting Parliament, it was announced.

The MFK-fraction will participate in meetings only after the Council of Advice has spoken out on the recent swearing in of seven new coalition members. Schotte claims they were illegally installed due to the lack of majority support and because of that Parliament cannot function.

In his opinion the President of Parliament should urge the government to seek an advice on this matter as soon as possible. This is needed for Parliament to resume its work, said Schotte.

However, the MAN/PAR/PNP/PS coalition has already decided not to back the request for such an advice. They say everything went according to the rules.
