SYNOPSIS:
The Atlantic high pressure system is the dominant weather feature across the Region. Nevertheless, pockets of moisture and instability ahead of a tropical wave may produce isolated showers and vicinity thunder today. By tonight, increased moisture and instability associated with the Tropical Wave, will start arriving over the area increasing chances for showers and thunder.
Additionally, moderate winds are expected to persist for the rest of the week, while seas remain above-normal.

SPECIAL FEATURE:
At 11 am, Hurricane Joaquin was downgraded to a Tropical Storm and was moving over the open North Atlantic.
This system is no threat to St. Maarten.
