Megaplex to reopen, no forced dismissals

PHILIPSBURG--Caribbean Cinemas Megaplex, which was damaged during the passage of Hurricane Irma on September 6, will be rebuilding and reopening its operations.

The theatre’s attorney Jojanneke Deelstra of HBN Law told The Daily Herald in an invited comment on Monday that her client will be reopening the cinema. She could not say when the reopening is scheduled for.  “The company will reopen. The intention is to reopen.”

She said also that there is no intention for forced dismissals of employees. This newspaper understands that Megaplex has more than 30 employees. “The intention is to keep the employees,” Deelstra said.

The extent of the damages sustained at the theatre could not be ascertained.
