CAY HILL--A man was shot to death at the bar at the entrance of Welgelegen Road in Cay Hill around 10:30pm Friday night.
Chief of Police Peter de Witte confirmed that a man had been killed and that multiple shots had been fired, but said members of the Forensic team were still busy investigating the matter. De Witte said a suspect had not yet been detained.
According to witnesses, shots were exchanged between at least two shooters.
The Daily Herald understands that the shooting began in the vicinity of Builders Paradise on Welgelegen Road (the road leading to St. Maarten Medical Center (SMMC)) and ended up at the bar at the entrance of the road, where the victim died of his gunshot wounds. His body was still on the scene at the restaurant when this newspaper arrived on the scene.
The victim’s identity could not be ascertained and the circumstances of the shooting were unclear up to press time.
