SAUNDERS--A man is currently nursing a gunshot wound after being shot in the back at an apartment complex at Lily Road in Saunders.
The incident occurred around 3:00pm on Wednesday. When police arrived on the scene, the man was found lying on the floor in front of one of the apartments and was bleeding from a gunshot wound to his back. Due to his condition, the victim was unable to give a statement as to what had taken place. He was treated on the scene by paramedics and transported to Sint Maarten Medical Center (SMMC) for further treatment.
The area was cordoned off by investigating officers to allow the Forensic Department to collect evidence and for detectives to question potential witnesses, police spokesperson Chief Inspector Ricardo Henson said in a press release on Wednesday. Police is investigating the situation to find out what exactly happened and who is responsible for the shooting.
Henson said when more information becomes available, it will be provided.
