Man shot in Belvedere

BELVEDERE--Shots rang out in the neighbourhood of Belvedere early Friday morning and now one resident is nursing two bullet wounds.

The wounded man had just entered his Mercedes Benz car when several shots were fired by an unknown person. Bullets blasted through the car windshield with two lodging in his chest and a leg.

The man was about to leave his home when the attack occurred, said Police. The shooting survivor tried to flee, “but was struck at least twice. After committing this act the suspect fled the scene in a small black car with tinted windows.”

The man is being treated at St. Maarten Medical Center (SMMC) as Police continue to investigate the scene of the shooting for clues to the motive and leads on the shooter who is still at large.
