Man arrested for chain snatching

OYSTER POND--Police arrested a suspect on Friday at approximately 4:30am after a call came in from adult entertainment club Casa Blanca concerning a robbery that had taken place.

  Police announced on Sunday that on the scene, investigating officers encountered a woman who claimed a man armed with a gun had snatched her gold chain from her neck. She also described the vehicle in which the man had driven away.

  The officers approached the suspect and during questioning he admitted that he had come to the club in a grey Suzuki Vitara. The investigating officers could also smell the scent of marijuana coming from the vehicle and went on to search the vehicle. A handgun was found on the floor of the vehicle in front of the driver’s seat during the search. This firearm was immediately confiscated for further investigation.

  The suspect J.C.D. (28) was arrested on the spot and taken to the Philipsburg police headquarters where he is being held for questioning and further investigation.
