Maiden visit

MSC Cruises’ ship Seaside was welcomed by Tourism Minister Cornelius de Weever, Port St. Maarten supervisory board and management and stakeholders on Wednesday, at the inaugural call and plaque exchange ceremony.

Captain Marco Massa said he was very happy to be back in St. Maarten. He was amazed by the destination's recovery within a short time. De Weever pointed out MSC Cruises return to the destination once again demonstrated confidence in the island and a recovery track embarked upon to make the island better than ever. The destination will go through many changes and planning phases, but it is committed to providing that essential cruise experience the island and its people have been providing to the cruise sector for years, De Weever said. Cruise passengers from three other ships in port were also greeted with steel pan music and stilt walkers as they disembarked. The other ships were Freedom of the Seas, Celebrity Eclipse, and Costa Neoclassica.
