Mahi-Mahi suspects back in Court on October 25

PHILIPSBURG--Two suspects in the so-called Mahi-Mahi investigation into a shooting that took place at The Westin St. Maarten Dawn Beach Resort and Spa parking lot on May 29, 2016, will be back in Court on October 25, the Court of First Instance decided Wednesday.

Suspects K.L. (34), and L.W. (38) were injured during the shootout, which occurred at 10:00am.

The two men are suspected of possession of US $50,000 in false banknotes and of possession of illegal firearms in connection with the shooting.

The Prosecutor presented a provisional indictment on Wednesday, because the two defendants are suspected of having committed more crimes, he explained.

Attorney-at-law Brenda Brooks filed a request to hear a person living in Dominica as a witness in this case. The Prosecutor rejected the request, but the Judge allowed the hearing of the witness by an investigating judge.
