Local police investigate drowning of fisherman

ANGUILLA--The Royal Anguilla Police Force (RAPF) is investigating the drowning of 54-year-old Vincent Liburd (alias “Jungle”) of West End, on Tuesday, July 24. The drowning occurred off Prickly Pear and the police discovered that Liburd had been out at sea on a fishing trip when he fell overboard.

The body was recovered and brought ashore at the Sandy Ground pier on board another boat that had responded to the scene and assisted in the recovery of Liburd from the water.

The matter remains under investigation and a Coroner’s inquest has been ordered.
