ST. EUSTATIUS--Also during this Christmas season, the Berkel Family Plantation will open its doors to a world of seasonal lights and atmosphere.

Custodian Ishmael Berkel has officially switched on the coloured lights of the 10-metre Christmas tree that stands in a specially created world of festive decoration and music.

“Our opening last year was highlighted by community singing, Statia food and superb local entertainment,” Berkel recalls. “However, this year, the [COVID-19 – Ed.] pandemic has prompted a more sober approach. Nevertheless, the entire Statia community is welcome every evening after 6:00 to freely enter the peaceful, yet joyful plantation setting.

“On Statia, we always learn how to make the best of things during moments of unavoidable and unwanted change. That is why families will enjoy the plantation and its blessings at this celebration time of year.”
