Finance Minister Perry Geerlings (right) said discussions are ongoing with the Committee for Financial Supervision CFT about its advice to government to lower the 2019 budget expenses from NAf. 503 million to NAf. 475 million. The CFT’s advice letter came “at the 11th hour” after the draft budget was already with Parliament.

A consensus is being worked on and there is “ample time” to achieve this and adjust the draft budget if necessary, according to Geerlings.  Debate on the budget was slated to start last week, but was put on hold at Geerlings’ request. Parliament is still to set a new date for commencement. Also in photo are all other members of the Council of Ministers, except Prime Minister Leona Romeo-Marlin, who is in the Bahamas for the Caribbean Infrastructure Conference.
