The St. Maarten Police Force KPSM issued a statement against egg throwing during Halloween. Fines up to Cg. 500 could be issued to those caught.
PHILIPSBURG--The St. Maarten Police Force KPSM has warned students against throwing eggs at fellow students, vehicles, homes and other private property ahead of Halloween weekend.
In a statement, KPSM said some students bring eggs to school or purchase them at nearby shops in the days leading up to Halloween to engage in the activity.
Police warned that egg throwing can cause injuries, damage property and create dangerous situations for road users. The force stressed that the behaviour is punishable and that officers will take appropriate action against those involved.
Parents and guardians have been urged to speak with their children about the consequences, monitor what they take to school and discourage them from participating. If anyone is caught throwing eggs, a fine of up to 500 Caribbean guilders could be issued.
KPSM also reminded students to respect their fellow students, other members of the community and private property. Schools and shop owners were encouraged to remain alert and help discourage the behaviour.
