ANGUILLA--For the third consecutive year Julians restaurant at Quintessence Hotel at Long Bay has earned the prestigious Wine Spectator 2020 Award of Excellence. The award honours restaurants around the world for having outstanding wine lists appropriate to their cuisine that appeal to a wide range of wine lovers.

The Q Cellar at Julians Tropical French Bistro has earned this title every year since it opened in January 2018. The Q Cellar includes an inventory of more than 900 bottles, emphasising Bordeaux and Burgundy from France and California, overseen by Wine Director Robert Lake and General Manager Merla Smith.

Quintessence Hotel Owner Geoffrey Fieger also shares his personal collection, which he procured over a lifetime of travels and research. “I love the pleasure of sharing a wine I love with our guests, or opening something new to try together,” Fieger said. “This award is public recognition for our private dedication to obtaining the finest wines we can find.”

The Q Cellar is made of handcrafted stone, brick and vaulted ceilings in a Tuscan style. The bottles are stored on cedar racks with state-of-the-art climate control. As part of Quintessence Hotel’s luxury experience, guests may opt for intimate tastings or meals in Q Cellar, enjoying wine selections meticulously matched to Chef Dominique Thevenet’s island-infused French cuisine.

The 2020 Wine Spectator Awards come during a difficult year for the restaurant industry. “This year’s Wine Spectator Restaurant Award programme celebrates restaurants’ resilience, dedication and bravery during these unprecedented times,” said Marvin R. Shanken, Editor and Publisher, Wine Spectator. “We hope that all of our award winners and the people who make them special will find their way through the crisis to once again welcome us through their doors. We look forward to raising a glass together, and to new beginnings.”
