Increase of pension age before Parliament Mon.

PHILIPSBURG--The increase of the pension age for St. Maarten will be before Parliament for approval during a plenary session in Parliament House on Monday, starting at 11:00am.

The public meeting will deal with the increase of the pension age from 60 to 62. The increase has been pending for some time now and is in conformity with recommendations from the Committee for Financial Supervision CFT to better the country’s financial situation and boost the social funds.

The meeting on the pension ordinance will be preceded by a meeting of the Central Committee of Parliament on the draft treaty on double taxation between the Netherlands and St. Maarten. That session in Parliament House will start at 10:00am.

In the afternoon, a Central Committee meeting on the 2014 financial statements of Princess Juliana International Airport Operating Company N.V. will be held starting at 3:00pm.

Both sessions will be live on St. Maarten Cable TV Channel 120, Pearl Radio FM 98.1,
