High school student stabbed, 4 arrested

CUL DE SAC--A student believed to be attending St. Maarten Vocational Training School (SMVTS) ended up in St. Maarten Medical Center (SMMC) on Thursday, after being attacked and stabbed during a brawl in the vicinity of Sheik Supermarket early Monday afternoon.
The incident occurred after 1:00pm, just after school was dismissed. Police spokesperson Chief Inspector Ricardo Henson told The Daily Herald the student was in serious condition after being stabbed on the left side of his body during the fracas. However, he was stabilised after being rushed to the hospital.
Henson said four suspects had been arrested in the incident – three students and one person who is not a student. Henson said police were still trying up to late yesterday to piece together the details of what exactly had transpired. However, he said it was believed that two groups of students had a problem with each other and this had escalated with the incident on Monday.
