ORANJESTAD/PHILIPSBURG--The Public Health Inspectorates of St. Maarten and Aruba signed a cooperation agreement at the Health Care Conference Aruba (HCCA) recently held at Hilton Aruba Caribbean Resort and Casino. The purpose of this collaboration is to provide information on supervision and maintenance of health care between the two islands.
St. Maarten Minister of Public Health, Social Development and Labour VSA Emil Lee witnessed the signing of the cooperation agreement between the inspectorates together with Aruba Health Minister Alex Schwengle, St. Maarten Public Health Inspector Earl Best and Aruba Public Health Inspector Dorylee Lopez Penha who agreed to work together by exchanging staff and professionals, aligning information and protocol, and using each other’s expertise.
The Conference theme focused on integral care. Schwengle was pleased with the increase in cooperation, but especially with what was reached at the end of the Conference. In addition to the cooperation agreement between St. Maarten and Aruba, the Health Ministers of Aruba, Curaçao and St. Maarten have also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).
The Ministers will meet in Curaçao on July 21 to outline how all countries can work together for the next two years.
