Gwendolien Mossel appointed acting Ombudsman Thursday

PHILIPSBURG--Members of Parliament (MPs) on Thursday appointed Gwendolien Mossel as the Acting Ombudsman for St. Maarten.

In her new capacity, Mossel will observe the duties of Ombudsman in the absence of Ombudsman Nilda Arduin-Lynch.

Mossel was recommended for the post by the office of the ombudsman. The recommendation was first handled in a meeting of the Central Committee of Parliament on Wednesday, January 25, where it was approved. It was put to a vote during a plenary session of Parliament on Thursday.

Chairperson of Parliament Sarah Wescot-Williams had said before the voting that the appointment of an Acting Ombudsman had become necessary.
