Greenhouses to be built at Saba schools

SABA--In regard to promoting a healthy and active lifestyle and stimulating interest in agriculture on Saba, the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science will provide funds to the Public Entity Saba to construct a greenhouse at Sacred Heart and Saba Comprehensive schools, Commissioner Rolando Wilson proudly announced on Monday.

This endeavour would provide pupils and students with knowledge and experience in gardening that will foster not only their ability and knowledge to produce vegetables for years to come, but it also promotes healthy eating in combination with increased physical activity working in the greenhouses, the Commissioner stated. The Zion’s Hill Farmworkers will also be contributing to this learning experience.

Wilson stated that as commissioner of Agriculture and Health, it is his task and responsibility to promote sustainable and healthy living within Saba’s community, “and this is the perfect way to start,” he said, according to a public entity Facebook message.

Exploring the possibilities of starting a hydroponic farm is something the commissioner intends to look into for the future, the message read.
