PHILIPSBURG--Seniors in the country will have to wait until the financial situation of utilities company GEBE recovers before they can again enjoy the relief the company offered in the past.

Both Prime Minister Silveria Jacobs and former Temporary Manager Sharine Daniel have indicated that the company does not have the finances at the moment for the programme.
Jacobs made the remarks to Members of Parliament (MPs) during the continuation of a meeting on GEBE last week Friday.
Daniel made the remarks on The Breakfast Lounge with Lady Grace on PJD2 last week Thursday. “This senior relief has been one of the things that GEBE proudly has done over the years and you know I always say, it’s a sensitive topic because you know, the seniors are special,” stated Daniel. “They did their time and it’s always nice for government owned companies to give back and that is one of the things that I really do admire that GEBE does. However, given our cash position at this time, GEBE cannot… at this point in time, even entertain the senior relief until we get back to that normalcy, until we are more in that solvency,” Daniel added.
