MARIGOT--Préfète Déléguée Sylvie Feucher visited the mobile COVID-19 testing point outside Super U in the Howell Center on Friday. She was accompanied by Director-General of regional health agency ARS, Valérie Denux, Territorial Director for St. Martin and St. Barths Brice Daverton and members of the French Red Cross.

The officials wanted to observe the first day of testing which has been organised jointly by ARS and the Red Cross in the wake of an increase of COVID-19 cases on both sides of the island. Mobile testing will continue in the districts until August 14.

Red Cross Director in St. Martin, Farah Viotty said the free testing is available to all citizens of the island, including Dutch-side residents, although for the latter the border controls may make it problematic.

Persons who take the test must have a valid phone number in order to be informed if their test is positive or negative. Viotty indicated the objective of the testing is to get a picture of whether infections are increasing or decreasing.

Mobile testing continues today, Monday, in Sandy Ground from 9:00am to 1:00pm; Tuesday, August 4, and Wednesday, August 5, at Super U, Hope Estate, 9:00am-12:00pm and 3:00pm-5:00pm; Thursday, August 6, at the Grand Case Post Office, 9:00am-1:00pm; Friday, August 7, at the Marigot Post Office, 9:00am-1:00pm; Saturday, August 8, at Leader Price Supermarket, Hope Estate, 9:00am-1:00pm; Monday, August 10, in French Quarter (market area), 9:00am-1:00pm; Tuesday, August 11, at Grand Case Post Office 9:30am-1:00pm; Wednesday, August 12, at Super U Howell Center, Marigot, 9:00am-12:30pm; Thursday, August 13, in Bellevue, 9:00am-1:00pm; and Friday, August 14, in Oyster Pond from 10:00am to 1:00pm.
