A delegation from the fishermen’s association “Swali Fishermen” recently submitted a letter to the Préfecture requesting a Territorial Fishing Committee be created to regulate a number of issues, legal as well some affecting local fishermen and the industry as a whole.
Préfète Déléguée Anne Laubies at the Fish Day festivities last Sunday acknowledged she had received the request and is working on it. Meanwhile, association members have been soliciting donations from the public at Fish Day and other venues.
