Dominicano arrested for trying to enter SXM with false documents

AIRPORT--A man from the Dominican Republic was arrested on Tuesday, May 7, when he attempted to enter the country with a falsified document.

The type of document that had been forged could not be ascertained and was not specified in a press release issued by the police.

The man Y.R.R. arrived in St. Maarten on a Winair flight that originated from Curaçao. Police spokesperson Chief Inspector Ricardo Henson said in a press release that the documents had been inspected when the man handed them to an Immigration Officer. During the inspection of the documents, the Immigration Officer suspected that one of the documents had been falsified.

The documents were taken to the Alpha Team stationed at Princess Juliana International Airport (PJIA), who specialise in detecting falsified documents. On inspection, the team confirmed that the document was indeed false.

  1. was arrested by members of the Alpha Team for attempting to enter the country using a falsified document. The falsified document was confiscated and R. was taken to the main police station in Philipsburg, where he remains in custody pending further investigation.
