Demolition has resumed

Demolition has resumed on the condemned Auberge de Mer building in Marina Port La Royale, since the Administrative Court judge in Guadeloupe on December 10 rejected the injunction from the businesses occupying the building to have the demolition work suspended to give them more time to find alternative locations.

The businesses produced an independent expert survey that concluded the building was not in peril. Despite that, the judge ruled in favour of SEMSAMAR and the Collectivité. The businesses are now discussing their options going forward. In the meantime, questions of safety have arisen for the businesses still in the building.  (Robert Luckock photo)
