Curaçao wins international final  but loses to US champ Hawaii

International champions.

WILLIAMSPORT--Curaçao’s “Liga Pa’bou” representing the Caribbean won the Little League World Series (LLWS) international title against Chinese Taipei (Taiwan) 1-0 in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, but lost the tournament’s grand finale against US champion Hawaii 3-13 on Sunday.

  Hawaii beat all American domestic teams it faced with large scores as well. Against Taiwan Curaçao took a 1-0 lead over the Asia/Pacific region team – who were unbeaten so far – in the third inning and held it until the end.

  Several of the island’s players excelled during the tournament, including Davey-Jay Rijke and Jay-Dlynn Wiel. Jaythan Cordillia impressed in the international final with an important catch. 

  In the semi-final Curaçao had defeated Mexico 2-1.
