Beaches and businesses had some buzz on Christmas Day when cruise ships “Independence of the Seas” and “Marella Celebration” visited St. Maarten. A number of cruise passengers headed over to Kim Sha Beach to soak up some sun and enjoy some water sports. It was the first time since Hurricane Irma on September 6 that two ships were in port at same time. All businesses were given an exemption to open to cater to the cruise passengers on what is usually a mandatory shop closure day.
