Casino Royale employees part of rebuilding effort

With the reconstruction team

MAHO--Teamwork is an approach personnel of Sonesta Maho Beach Resort’s Casino Royale are taking seriously. The reconstruction team includes 14 casino staffers who joined in to help rebuild their workplace as a way to move it faster towards reopening, scheduled for month’s end.

These employees, who say they firmly believe in the slogan “We Are Stronger, Together,” held positions such as card dealers prior to Hurricane Irma slamming into the island on September 6, 2017. That monster storm damaged the casino and adjacent properties.

Those who have moved from “dealing hands” to giving a hand in the rebuilding are Raul Edillo, Richard Renjifo, Pedro Francisco, Robert Benders, Lester David, Chester Warner, Carlos La Hoz Fortuna, Esmarlin Woodley, Raphael Benjamin, Irma Nancy Renjifo, Luis Rombley, Eymor Vidal, Lopes Ramzie Eddir and Sergio Porcasi, the Maho Group’s Vice President of Casino Operations and Security.

“We are dedicated to keeping our team employed, motivated and part of our family,” said Porcasi. “It’s a great feeling to be part of the actual construction of something, especially in a place where will be your workplace. It’s emotional - they are putting their heart and soul into the rebuilding of Casino Royale, as we all are.”

Upon reopening, Casino Royale will continue to offer more than 21,000 square-feet of gaming and entertainment with the biggest theatre in the region, and will debut two new alfresco restaurants and a new outdoor bar and lounge overlooking the main street of Maho Village, the latter scheduled to reopen later this year.

Maho Village, the shopping and nightlife promenade located just steps outside the resorts, along with Casino Royale are undergoing a massive transformation.
