Camera Surveillance system goes live today

 

PHILIPSBURG--The Camera Surveillance Centre managed by the Emergency Dispatch Centre under the responsibility of the Police Force of St. Maarten will go live today, Friday, February 1.

  Police spokesperson Chief Inspector Ricardo Henson said camera surveillance has been implemented in the country due to “the very active and growing economy and growing population.”He said the purpose of this of type of surveillance is for the maintenance of public order and safety in the community.

  “It is required by law that the community be informed when they are in an area which is monitored by the Camera Surveillance Centre,”Henson said.

  More information regarding the Camera Surveillance Centre and its operations will be given at a later date, Henson noted.
