Brush fire

A brush fire broke out at the Happy Bay end of Friars Bay late Wednesday morning.

The residential area of Mont Choisy was evacuated as a precaution. The Fire Brigade (pompiers) confirmed a fire was in progress, but no further updates could be obtained from the pompiers or Gendarmerie during the day. Another fire was also seen in Friars Bay where vegetation was being burnt in a construction yard where backhoes were working. This latter fire appeared to have been set in a controlled manner.
