Brinkman wants UPB disqualified

THE HAGUE--Member of Dutch Parliament (MP) Hero Brinkman of the Party for Freedom PVV wants State Secretary of Kingdom Relations Ank Bijleveld-Schouten to retroactively disqualify Bonaire's former UPB Executive Council as a negotiation partner.

Brinkman stated this in response to a pamphlet that was released shortly before the January 22 Antillean Parliament elections. The pamphlet accused UPB leader Ramonsito Booi and other prominent party members of, among other things, fraud and corruption.

Brinkman on Thursday sent a copy to Bijleveld-Schouten along with a few written questions. He asked whether there was any truth to the accusation that Booi, James Kroon, Reginald Dortalina, Maritsa Silberie, Jeffrey Livingstone and Elvis Tjin-A-Tjoe were involved in drug trafficking, money laundering practices, fraud and corruption.

The MP wanted to know if the State Secretary was willing to reverse the outcome of the constitutional negotiations and disqualify UPB as a negotiation partner if the accusations of criminal activities turned out to be true.
