CAY HILL--A ten-room apartment complex caught fire close to 11:00am on Thursday. Fire fighters rushed to the building located opposite Kooyman Mega Store were all persons in the building had evacuated their homes.
They were experiencing difficulties trying to extinguish the blaze, as the narrow roads leading up that area are blocked by old vehicles parked along the streets. No injuries were reported and police had cleared the area to allow fire fighters the space to do their work.
Officer in charge on the scene Fireman Antonio Gibs told The Daily Herald that they were doing everything possible to out the flames and persons in the area should avoid heavy smoke from the blaze.
Police closed A.J.C Brouwers Road and motorists were diverted to alternate routes. Firemen were still trying to out the fire. (12:47pm)
