PHILIPSBURG--St. Maarten Carnival Development Foundation (SCDF) will host a meeting this Thursday for all registered participants in the 2018 Band Clash and Road March Competitions.

The meeting will be held at the SCDF offices on Illidge Road above Windward Islands Bank at 7:30pm. It is the first official session SCDF is having with any of its show participants in preparation for Carnival 2018.

The Road March and Band Clash Competitions are two shows in one and likely to feature a similar number of participants as Carnival 2017. The difference with Carnival 2018 is the venue. The show will be hosted in Carnival Village, compared to on the ring road in 2017.

SCDF wants to ensure that it and all participants in both events are on the same page when it comes to criteria, rules and regulations of the events.

SCDF also announced that its main office of operations will be open daily from 9:00am to 5:00pm as of Monday, January 8, to handle payments for booths, season passes and other Carnival-related business.

The foundation is also scheduling meetings with calypsonians and troupe leaders to be held over the next two weeks.
