PHILIPSBURG-- Power came off in several areas mid-morning Thursday when a backhoe damaged one of the cables of Utilities Company GEBE.
GEBE media relations officer Paula Gordon confirmed the incident, but said she did not have information as to where the damage occurred or exactly which areas were out.
Gordon said "our team is busy switching in areas." She said an update will be provided soon.
This newspaper understands that Dutch Quarter and Philipsburg are amongst the areas without power.
It could not be ascertained when power will be restored.
Several areas around the country has been experiencing brief intermittent outages over the past week. GEBE has so far not indicated what the reason was for those outages.
