ANGUILLA--Anguilla Progressive Association of New York (APANY) celebrated its 21st anniversary and the 50th Anniversary of the Anguilla Revolution at their annual dinner dance on Saturday, June 3, attended by over 400 Anguillians and friends of Anguilla.
Minister of Social Development Evans McNiel Rogers represented Chief Minister Victor Banks at the gala presided over by President of APANY Carlson Connor. Rogers thanked APANY for its ongoing and generous support of Anguilla over the years. It is customary to hold this dinner each year near to Anguilla Day and to recognise Anguillians for their service. This year five Anguillians were honoured: Hubert Hughes, Colville Petty, Leonard Richardson, Renuka Harrigan and David Lloyd.
Congratulatory Awards were also presented to high school student achievers who had been supported in their studies by APANY. These was a high school graduates Teanna Campbell; a community college graduate Anton Leandre-Andina Abraham, and two college graduates Brian Hodge and Gabrielle Abraham.
Also attending the festive occasion from Anguilla were Cardigan Connor, Parliamentary Secretary, Larry Franklin, Permanent Secretary, and Donna Banks, Chairperson, Anguilla Tourist Board.
