Additional bridge openings accommodate Regatta traffic

SIMPSON BAY--Simpson Bay Lagoon Authority has advised motorists, in connection with the St. Maarten Heineken Regatta activities in the Simpson Bay area during the next few days, to avoid passing through Simpson Bay if heading to the Airport/Maho/Beacon Hill/Lowlands areas and to use the causeway bridge instead if heading to Cole Bay/Philipsburg. This will help reduce traffic congestion in the Simpson Bay area.

Additional bridge openings in connection with the Regatta are Friday, 8:00am; Friday, 6:00pm; Saturday, 8:00am; and Sunday 8:00am. Motorists also are advised to pay attention to the bridge stoplights and booms and to respect and observe them once they have been activated to warn motorists that the bridge will be opening. This is in the interest of motorists’ safety.

Port St. Maarten Management wishes all participants and visitors to the 36th Annual St. Maarten Heineken Regatta a safe and enjoyable event.
