KRALENDIJK--Jeaninne Wong-Loi-Sing has been appointed as Acting Island Governor of Bonaire by Acting National Representative Jan Helmond, effective July 21, 2026.
The swearing-in ceremony has now taken place. She will assume office in the absence of Island Governor Soliano, with all associated statutory powers, to ensure continuity.
Outgoing Acting Island Governor Ingrid Sealy had indicated some time ago that she wished to step down from her position. The reason was that it could no longer be combined with her role as Head of Department at SSO Caribbean Netherlands. The acting national representative thanked her for the commitment shown over recent years.
Wong-Loi-Sing was raised in Bonaire and has dedicated many years to promoting integrity within the public sector. In 2024, her efforts in the European Netherlands were recognised with the prestigious Ien Dales Integrity Award. Through her strong commitment to the community, she knows the island well and is aware of the issues affecting it.
Helmond is pleased that she is willing to take on the related duties. "With Ms. Wong-Loi-Sing, Bonaire has gained a skilled and experienced professional as Acting Island Governor. I wish her the best of luck," he said.
