PHILIPSBURG--Three persons have tested positive for COVID-19 and six persons have reportedly recovered from the virus, bringing the total active cases to 37 on Monday, April 12.
The country’s total number of confirmed cases is now 2,188.
Collective Prevention Services (CPS) is monitoring 36 persons in home isolation. One patient is hospitalised at St. Maarten Medical Center (SMMC). The total number of deaths due to COVID-19 remains at 27.
The number of persons recovered since the first case surfaced in St. Maarten has increased to 2,124. There are 30 persons in quarantine based on contact-tracing investigations carried out by CPS.
The Ministry of Public Health, Social Development and Labor VSA Airport Health Team in collaboration with Health Care Laboratory St. Maarten (HCLS) has tested 2,655 travellers arriving at Princess Juliana International Airport (PJIA) and CPS has tested 25,304 persons throughout the community.
CPS assures that as the numbers continue to fluctuate, it will continue to actively execute its contact-tracing measures.
Minister of Public Health Richard Panneflek urges the public to remain vigilant when in public places. “For your safety, continue to wear your masks, practise social distancing, sanitise or wash your hands frequently and refrain from mass gatherings,” he said.
