Meet the author: Florence Blaize

You may recognise Florence Blaize as a former teacher at the Hillside Christian Schools, a teacher at the Salvation Army Church School, or a member of the Good News Baptist Church in St. Peters. She prides herself on being friendly, energetic, productive, a motivator, learner, and goal-getter – someone who would go the extra mile to help people become the best version of themselves.

Tell us about yourself and your writing journey.

I am a Dominican by birth, saved, and serving in various ministries at the Good News Baptist Church. I started writing at a very young age, but always saw it as a hobby. I never took it seriously, until I recognized it was not merely a hobby but a gift from God.

I have written many poems, stories, speeches, songs, programs, and curriculums. A Pathway to Transition is not my first written book, but my first published book. I always looked forward to the day I would publish my own book.

What is the topic of the book?

A Pathway to Transition is meant to elevate the readers to a higher level of faith in God. It is a step-by-step spiritual guide, based on biblical principles that will activate, energize, and fuel one's faith, as it provides the necessary tools to transition readers from the faith they have to the faith they need in these changing times.

It is also geared to change the perception of these challenging times, lead one to a victorious life of total dependency on God, and help one grow into deeper intimacy with Christ.

What prompted you to write it?

There were several objectives that fomented the development of this book. Primarily, through dialogue with fellow believers, I recognized the struggle with some of God’s children who are sincere and have a complete view and perception of God’s word, but never arrive at a point where they develop a sense of intimacy with God.

Furthermore, during the pandemic, I encountered many people who were depressed, frustrated, confused, and fearful, those who suffered from panic attacks, and others who were ready to throw in the towel. I knew I had what it takes to help these individuals. It was also during this time that I completed my studies to become a certified life coach. Therefore, I used my expertise along with the knowledge of the word of God to bring about a change in these individuals' lives – and placing my story in the form of a book would definitely have a global impact.

What does spirituality mean to you?

I can define my spirituality as having a personal relationship with God, by trusting Him as my Lord and Saviour, giving Him the right to take control of every area of my life, depending fully on Him, walking in alignment with His word, and living a life of conformity to His will. This is how I summarize my spiritual life.
