BAMBOO HOUSE

What & When: This New Year’s Eve, Bamboo House will be hosting an elegant NYE dinner and party with a raw bar, passed dishes, exclusive buffet, music and limited open bar. Adults pay $275 for the unlimited buffet, limited open bar and live entertainment; children ages 8-14 can come for $150; and children under 7 can join for free. Bamboo’s NYE event will take place from 9:00pm until 3:00am on December 31.

Banging bites: Guests can indulge in a luxurious raw bar including oysters, poached shrimp, salmon crudo, ying & yang crudo and frutti di mare. Korean chicken wings, big eye tuna crudo, yellowtail nigiri, king crab nigiri caviar with gold leaf, pan seared chicken dumplings and bamboo’s deluxe sushi rolls will be passed around for everyone to enjoy. The unlimited buffet will include miso salmon, shrimp, lobster and clam seafood boil, filet mignon medallions, beef short ribs, stir fry mixed vegetables, truffle crème linguini, and a vegetable pad thai. Last but certainly not least, guests can satisfy their sweet tooth with fondant chocolate, crème brûlée and white and milk chocolate dipped strawberries.

Extravagant extras: Bamboo House hopes to redefine 1940s tropical elegance with live music by the classy yet fun Sugar Apple Band and a dance party with DJ Alex. It is also important to note that guests can view at least four firework-exhibitions from the restaurant’s stylish terrace. The outside deck will be covered with concert staging for the entertainment and protection from the rain, just in case of a New Year’s shower. Guests at VIP tables can make use of Bamboo’s complimentary transportation to and from their homes or hotels, so that they don’t have to drink and drive. More importantly, everyone can enjoy the open bar cocktails, mixed drinks, wine and beer from 9:00pm to 3:00am.

BOVIN STEAK HOUSE

What & When: Bovin Steak House at the Simpson Bay Resort in Pelican, one of the finest steakhouses in St. Maarten, will be hosting a special three-course NYE dinner in a cosy and chic atmosphere overlooking Kim Sha beach and Simpson Bay for $130 per person. There will be two seatings on December 31: one from 6:00pm to 8:30pm and another one from 9:00pm to 1:00am.

Banging bites: Guests will start the dinner with a grape & arugula salad or creamy seafood chowder. This will be followed by a main course consisting of lobster tail and asparagus ribeye bundles, a 12oz prime rib, a 10oz rack of lamb or an almond and cream cheese-stuffed red snapper, accompanied by truffle fries, four cheese macaroni or grilled veggies. For dessert, guests will enjoy a mango flambe with coconut ice cream.

Extravagant extras: Bovin’s NYE dinner includes champagne for a toast at midnight and an amazing view of the fireworks in Simpson Bay and Maho.

JULIETTE’S BISTRO

What & When: Juliette’s Bistro at Simpson Bay Resort in Pelican will be offering a four-course French dinner on a beautifully illuminated terrace in the fresh air from 6:00pm on December 31. The cost for Juliette Bistro’s NYE dinner is $64 per person.

Banging bites: For the first course, guests will choose an onion or creamy corn soup, followed by a Waldorf or plum salad. Then, guests will tuck into a special duck a l'orange or a scrumptious salmon wellington. Juliette’s Bistro’s NYE dinner will end on a spectacularly sweet note with apple pie or red velvet cake.

Extravagant extras: Guests will toast to the New Year with a complimentary glass of sparkling wine and enjoy a glass of wine or two beers with their meal. Live sax music will give a special touch for the night and everyone will receive 12 grapes for 12 wishes at midnight.

What to wear: Dress to impress in your best Caribbean formal wear.

LA PATRONA

What & When: La Patrona at the Simpson Bay Resort in Pelican will once again be organising an unlimited buffet for a special night filled with good food, great service and an amazing view of Kim Sha Beach and Simpson Bay. The NYE dinner buffet takes place on December 31 with two seatings: the first seating takes place from 6:00pm to 8:30pm and will cost $59 per person; the second seating is from 9:00pm for $64 per person.

Banging bites: The exclusive buffet will include clam chowder to start; various mains such as red snapper, grilled salmon, New York strip steak, three cheese baked chicken, beef tenderloin and shrimp in wine and spinach sauce; sides such as coconut rice, rosemary roasted potatoes, creamy pesto rigatoni, grilled vegetables, Vichy-style carrots and cheesy Brussels sprouts; salad options include Waldorf salad, hearts of palm, beetroot, and green salad – feel free to mix! Lastly, guests can indulge in a wide variety of desserts, such as fresh fruit tarts, chocolate cake, mango mousse, chocolate mousse and crème brûlée.

Extravagant extras: La Patrona offers an amazing view of the fireworks in Simpson Bay and Maho. The restaurant will host an excellent brunch from 11:00am to 3:00pm the next day to combat the hunger and hangover after a big night out. The cost is $31 for adults and $18.75 for children under 11, and includes on mimosa, beer, or bloody Mary for adults.

What to wear: La Patrona will enforce a Caribbean formal dress code for NYE.

LOBSTER HOUSE

What & When: Lobster House, located next to the tennis courts at Port de Plaisance Country Club, will be hosting an al fresco three-course NYE dinner from 6:00pm onwards for $79.95 per person.

Banging bites: The three-course dinner will comprise the seafood restaurant’s most popular dishes and, of course, lots of lobster. Guests can choose a house salad, lobster bisque, lobster cocktail, escargot, fresh oysters or lobster cake to start their meal. Appetizers will be followed by a main course of honey glazed tenderloin, spinach crab stuffed salmon with shrimp, pan seared duck breast, lobster thermidor, sea bass, rack of lamb, surf & turf, filet mignon or whole grilled lobster accompanied by two of the following sides: pumpkin rice, garlic mashed potatoes, loaded baked potato, grilled vegetables and roasted asparagus. For dessert, Lobster House will be serving chocolate lava cake, tiramisu, ice cream and crème brûlée.

Extravagant extras: There will be complimentary glasses of champagne for everyone at midnight to toast to 2023! Lobster House will be nicely decorated, Percy Rankin and the Bunfire Band will provide some sweet tunes from 10:00pm onwards and guests can see the Maho fireworks from the terrace – a perfect setting to ring in the New Year.

MARY’S BOON

What & When: This Saturday, December 31, Mary’s Boon is hosting a seaside three-course dinner for $70 per person. There will be two seatings: one from 6:00pm and a later one from 9:00pm onwards.

Banging bites: Mary’s Boon’s NYE starters include carrot ginger soup, crispy winter kale salad and smoked salmon bruschetta. For entrée, the kitchen will be serving up chicken cordon bleu, pan seared red snapper fillet or roast beef a la Boon. The vegan/vegetarian/gluten-free is a wonderful vegetable stir fry consisting of bok choy, broccoli, cauliflower, string beans, carrots, bell peppers and cabbage, topped with grilled tofu. For dessert, guests will dig into a delicious tiramisu or crème brûlée.

Extravagant extras: Guests will toast with complimentary glasses of champagne while watching the Maho fireworks. The sounds of the waves crashing on the white sand of Simpson Bay beach will be accompanied by live music by Eduardo and his guitar from 10:00pm until 1:00am.

What to wear: There is no dress code, but people usually dress up to ring in the New Year, so feel free!

SOGGY DOLLAR BAR

What & When: Soggy Dollar Bar will be hosting a legendary New Year’s Party on December 31 from 10pm. with DJ Em lighting up the dance floor. The best part? Free entrance!

Delicious drinks: Soggy is known for its greatly priced alcohol, and NYE is no exception. All signature cocktails will be on special and party animals will receive a free glass of champagne when the clock strikes midnight!

Extravagant extras: Soggy Dollar Bar has a beautiful outdoor atmosphere under the stars, where you can embrace the full Caribbean vibes overlooking the Lagoon for New Year's Eve.
