Men’s Night Out: Saturday @ Kooyman

Men’s Night Out: Saturday @ Kooyman

In commemoration of September Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, Kooyman has joined forces with the Elektralayets and Positive Foundation to host the upcoming “Men’s Night Out” prostate cancer awareness event, which will take place this Saturday, September 16, from 6:30 to 9:00pm at Kooyman.

The event, which will be done in collaboration with Government Collective Prevention Services (CPS), will feature a panel discussion on Prostate Cancer, tackling questions and topics such as early prevention, testing, symptoms and self-care.

The focus for this year’s event is “Movement” with the aim of promoting a healthy lifestyle. This year’s guest speakers include Jisk Goslinga, Policy Adviser Department of Sports; Naomi Korstanje, Top Form Physio & Consultancy; Karen Eusebius, Dietician; and Dr. Simmons, General Practitioner. The goal is to provide men with tips and advice for healthier lifestyle.

“You can’t change your age, ethnicity or family history, but you can take control of your lifestyle. Being overweight may increase the risk of being diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer, but keeping active and eating a healthy diet can help you stay a healthy weight, and can improve your health in other ways too,” said Shelly Alfonso, President of the Positive Foundation.

“The guest speakers aim to inspire Men to take preventative measures, starting with Movement, becoming more active with sport, changing diet and lifestyle, rounding up with medical advice and key information,” said Mercedes “Elektra” Van Der Waals-Wyatt, Elektralayets Foundation.

“And because of the sensitivity of this disease, we have worked hard together with Kooyman to provide a safe space where men can have fun and mingle and discuss a sensitive topic such as prostate cancer, in a more informal setting where they may feel free to receive vital information on this disease that affects men 40+ with early symptoms and generally affects men 50+,” she added.

“Men’s Night Out” will also feature a Barbershop, Power Tool Demos, and a Blue lounge with a special welcome drink and beer tasting by International Liquors & Tobacco Trading (ILTT). Other activities include raffles by Makita Power Tools and FLOW, as well as Fun Miles which will be on hand to bring the fun with more opportunities to win great prizes.

All men will receive a free ManUp-CheckUp Prostate Cancer Awareness shirt and will be treated to an array of tasty finger foods as they enjoy music in a fun and informative atmosphere.

The event is free, but registration is required.

“The event caters to 150 men, so space is limited. We urge participants to visit www.Kooymanbv.com/events to register online and secure their FREE Prostate Cancer Awareness T-Shirt. Though the event is catered to men, we do welcome and encourage supportive women to bring their partner along to attend the session. Kooyman will also be open for additional shopping for the Men in attendance, who would like to take the opportunity to get any handy tools and items available,” shared Evencia Carty-Seabrookes, Kooyman Commercial Officer.
