Men’s Night Out for Prostate Cancer awareness

Men’s Night Out for Prostate Cancer awareness

~ Saturday @ Kooyman ~

This Saturday, September 10, from 6:00 till 9:00pm, up to 150 participants will have the opportunity to receive information on prostate cancer, sip and mingle with others, and enjoy a private shopping experience as well as a fresh shape-up by an in-store barber at Kooyman.

According to Kooyman’s commercial officer, Evencia Carty-Seabrookes, Kooyman as a hardware store aims to increase its focus on its core customers, who are primarily male: “We do care about our customers, and we want to continue to build a relationship with them for the long term. This also includes thinking on matters that affect them, such as prostate cancer. Back in 2019, we did a prostate cancer registration drive together with the Positive and Elektralytes foundations and we managed to gather more than 100 registrations. With that success, we realized that our customers are open to receiving information on this cause and hence ‘Men’s Night Out’ was created.”

All males over 40 years old, who are willing to receive more information on prostate cancer, are invited to register for the event. Registration is available online at Kooymanbv.com/events. This is limited to 150 guests, who will receive a free T-shirt, “but we do welcome any males who are interested to come out,” adds Carty-Seabrookes.

SMMC and CPS will be present for an informal panel discussion to discuss symptoms and early detection, and to answer any questions the gentlemen may have concerning prostate cancer to raise awareness for the disease. But there will be plenty of other activities.

As explained by Carty-Seabrookes, prostate cancer is a sensitive topic; the organizers want to make the gentlemen feel comfortable and thought about, so there will be an in-store barbershop by Frank of MLB Barber Shop, to give the gentlemen a fresh shape-up and make them feel good about themselves.

The Blue Lounge will be the relaxation spot for men to sit, snack and mingle, with the Beer Bar by ILTT featuring Blue Moon, Ginger Beer and Miller Lite, FIJI Water and Steaz Ice Tea and snacks from The Johnny Caker.

“We do want to keep our gentlemen engaged, so we have some Power Tool specials, and Demonstrations on select products now that they will have the opportunity to browse our selection of goods at a private event” – like a private shopping experience. That’s not all – there will also be raffles and giveaways. Kooyman will raffle a Milwaukee and Makita power tool off to two lucky winners, in addition to a spa package and Bonus Fun Miles.
