Le Gout du Vin

A local staple in wine since 1991, Le Gout du Vin has been in the same place in Marigot since it started, located on Rue De L’anguille, close to La Poste. Can you tell us a little about the company?

The “Taste of Wine” cellar in Marigot opened in November 1991. It was the first store of the Les Grands Vins De France company to open, followed by the one in St. Barth, Rue Oscard 2, and then the one in Anguilla in South Hill. From the beginning, we are importers of wines from all over the world, including France, North America, Chile, Argentina, Spain, Italy, South Africa and Australia. We also have beautiful selections of Cognacs, Armagnacs, Rums, Calvados, Whiskeys, Grappa and Sakés.

What are some of the bestselling wines and how are they best enjoyed?

Being located in Marigot on the French part of the island, we have a lot of demand for French wines and real Champagnes, but the “new world” wines are more and more in demand. And precisely the advantage of coming to see us is to be advised for the choice of the wines corresponding to your dishes, as well as the temperature of the wine and the time of aeration, etc.

Are there other popular products that you would like to highlight?

We have more than 800 references available, at all prices, in order to satisfy a maximum of requests, without forgetting the accessories for the wine – tasting glasses, corks, decanters, etc.

For the tasting; do you help customers to pick a wine to fit their taste; and is it good for beginners?

Well, for the duration of this fair, we have wines to taste, that will allow each one to make his choice according to his taste, but also to discover new horizons in the very vast world of the wine.

Is there a limit to the number of people allowed in, due to Covid?

Yes, indeed. During this very special period, no more than six people at a time are allowed, because while waiting for the end of the works of our new project at the seafront, the current store remains small – but friendly!!!

Is there anything else you’d like the public to know?

It’s a real wine fair with 25% off on all the products in the store, which allows local customers to build a cellar at a lower price, not to mention our free, 24-hour delivery service throughout the island.
