SXM born model returns for show
St. Martin-born international model Isabelle A. Lake (25) will be returning to the island to make a special guest appearance at Tantra Nightclub and Sanctuary this Friday night.
"I just want to show that St. Martin/St. Maarten models have a chance in the industry," she said. "I've worked with the best and I'm thankful for those who believe in me."
Lake was raised in New York and France. She started modelling in France and New York and was named Queen of Glam in a New York Magazine for re-inventing the black model nudity.
She started modelling at age four in her native St. Martin and ended up doing fashion shows and commercials in the South of France, New York and the Caribbean.
She earned the title "Queen of Glam in a New York Magazine after she participated in the Brooklyn Fashion Week. "I wanted to model, because I got sick of people bashing models who pose nude. I wanted to re-invent the black model's nudity in the industry because people always labelling us as sex vixens and that's not true," she said. "I'm one of the few black models in the South of France and in Saint Martin, who made a career based on nudity. People always tried to bring me down or stop me, but it got me far. I got contracts with Garnier and Loreal from Puerto Rico, touristic TV commercials and fashion shows all over St. Barths," she said.
