Great food and gorgeous views @ Ginger II

With their amazing sushi, delicious and authentic Chinese dishes, great cocktails, extensive wine list and open-air terrace overlooking Porto Cupecoy’s plaza and the boats in the marina, it is no wonder that Ginger II has become a favourite fine-dining restaurant among locals and tourists alike.

Ginger has been a household name for sushi on St. Maarten for many years, but the second location only opened its doors last year. Whereas, the original Ginger location in Cole Bay focuses largely on sushi, Ginger II specializes in more elevated sushi rolls and fine Chinese cuisine, from their signature Peking duck to their special xio long bao dumplings.

Another big difference is the romantic ambiance and views offered in the second location in Porto Cupecoy – a hidden oasis with many amazing restaurants surrounding a Mediterranean-style square, complete with palm trees, a fountain, benches and a majestic view of the boats in the on-site marina, a stunning cove of the Simpson Bay Lagoon and the lush hills of St. Maarten.

In our opinion, Porto Cupecoy is even more beautiful during the holidays. An amazingly tall Christmas tree, twinkly lights and many other elegant décor items grace the plaza, creating a festive ambiance with Caribbean flair. Why not celebrate the holidays enjoying Ginger II’s excellent sushi and Chinese cuisine?

Sushi rolls and Asian dishes are perfect for big family dinners as they are easily shared and enjoyed by different taste palates. Ginger II has both indoor seating that’s cosy and outdoor seating that’s breezy, making it the ideal location for bigger groups and events like Christmas parties. Guests can opt for a la carte dinners or the kitchen staff can prepare a lavish buffet.

Although the restaurant is spacious and has plenty of seating options, it still provides a romantic atmosphere for intimate date nights. Who would not be swept away by sharing a sushi love boat while looking at the waters, hills and stars in the distance?

Ginger II truly has something for everyone. For the children who do not enjoy sushi and Asian dishes, Ginger II has a special kids-menu which includes kid-friendly dishes such as chicken fingers, mozzarella sticks, ice cream and juices. The best part? The children can play in the plaza while the adults enjoy their meal. And Ginger II has also thought of their furry friends: dog-owners can order chicken or beef from the restaurant’s special dog menu so that their four-legged family members can also enjoy a nice meal on the terrace.

Closed on Wednesdays, Ginger II is located in Porto Cupecoy on 30B, 66 Rhine Road and is open daily from 5:00pm. The restaurant often opens for lunch in the weekends, so keep an eye on their Facebook or Instagram page for extra opening hours.
