Topper’s Dinner & Disco with Out N’ About
Last Thursday’s Dinner & Disco with Out N’ About was nothing short of spectacular. The venue was alive with retro energy, and the atmosphere was filled with laughter and music and was of course glowing with electric slide cocktails! The cocktails, lit up in vibrant hues, set the tone for what would be an unforgettable night of dancing, food, and fun.
The turnout was fantastic, with a mature crowd showing up in costumes to celebrate in true disco style. The dance floor was packed from start to finish, and the vibes were electric! Everyone seemed to embrace the night, moving to the beats spun by DJ Manicotti. The electric energy of the crowd was undeniable as people danced to the funky grooves, many of them sporting fabulous retro outfits. And, speaking of outfits, the fashion was absolutely on point. Disco pants, glitter, and neon colours ruled the night. Two special attendees truly stood out and were honoured with awards for Best Male Dancer/Costume and Best Female Dancer/Costume.
The vivacious Ginette Godin wowed the crowd with her oversized blonde afro wig, sparkling black 70's-style disco pants, and infectious energy. Ginette helped open the dance floor with DJ Manacotti, and she took home the award of White Chocolate Raspberry Topper’s Rhum, for Best Female Dancing Queen with Best Costume. The prize for Best Male went to Marcel Karijopawiro, who stole the show in neon colours, retro sunglasses, and some seriously smooth dance moves. Marcel kept the dance floor hot all night long, showcasing his unmatched groove, alongside his “brat pat” crew from St. Maarten Harley Davidson group, including his partner, along with Jane Therond and Irene Balduni. It’s safe to say that Marcel helped keep the crowd grooving all night, and deserved his award of Topper’s Tropical locally made Rhum.
The food was another highlight. The Dinner & Disco featured delicious Psychedelic Stuffed Mushrooms, Phunky Pasta Primavera, Boogie Brisket and Meat Me on the Dance Floor Meatloaf. Guests topped off the night with indulgent desserts and creamy gelato. The combination of great food, music, local Rhum and the friendly island company made for a truly spectacular night.
The event also marked a milestone as the first-ever collaborative effort between the Out N’ About team and local personalities. The Daily Herald crew was there in full force, with Claudette Alexander and Stephanie Mathieu ensuring plenty of fun moments were captured for the Pic Page (Page 7). Graphic designer Pip Van Gelder added the finishing touch with beautiful visuals, and Martha Jane Marsden, the coordinator of both the event and Out N' About, orchestrated the whole evening to perfection.
A special shout-out goes to the amazing Topper’s team, including Topper himself, Melani, Marni, restaurant manager Carol and, of course, DJ “Mike” Manacotti, whose beats kept everyone on their feet all night. The night also wouldn't have been the same without the presence of Dave Herbert from SXM Beer (who even made it to the cover page) and Daniella De Windt from Divico.
The event also saw the arrival of some other familiar “Out ‘N About” faces in the crowd, like John Caputo, owner of Domino’s Pizza, John Leone, Director of Seaview Hotel, the videographer of the evening Maarten St. Maarten, plus Mark Dumas. Monika Dobo, a compassionate animal care activist was sure to bring along her gal pals. The later “in costume” arrivals were David Seeman, Head of F&B at The Morgan Resort with his wife Tamara. It was a fantastic evening filled with fun, great people, and the kind of energy that only a true Dinner & Disco can bring.
Looking forward to more events like this because one thing’s for sure, Topper’s with Out N’ About really know how to throw an incredible party!
