The mastermind behind the exquisite menu is Chef Wendell Laurence, whose passion for food is evident in every dish he crafts. When asked about his favourite menu items, Chef Wendell replied, “To be sincere, all of them. This menu has been crafted with a lot of love and passion.” From succulent steaks to delectable seafood dishes, every bite is designed to leave a lasting impression.
The impressions at The Chef Table do not stop at just the food. Chef Wendell believes that great meals deserve great drinks, which is why their bar boasts an array of specially crafted cocktails. Quench your thirst with signature drinks such as The Chef Mule, The Saint Maartener, Lychee Martini, and the refreshing Cucumber Cooler, among others.
Chef Wendell was born and raised on St. Maarten. His passion for food took him on an unexpected journey, which began while attending Sundial School where he discovered his love for the culinary arts. Starting as a dishwasher and kitchen helper, he worked his way up to become a chef. After honing his skills in a 2-star Michelin restaurant in New York, he returned to the island to work as the head chef at Big Fish, where he earned the prestigious title of Best Chef on the Island for two consecutive years.
Chef Wendell is now ready to carve his own path and make The Chef Table a resounding success story. “After making every restaurant that I’ve worked a success story, I think it’s time for me to make my own as a local person,” he said. His unique style of cooking and unwavering commitment to providing a memorable dining experience sets The Chef Table apart from the rest, and he is beyond excited to celebrate this milestone with you!
