Discover the Soulful Rhythms of Jazz Funk

This Sunday, June 18, prepare to be captivated by a special musical experience as the Marigot waterfront comes alive with the harmonious melodies of Jazz Funk. Hosted by renowned bass player Paul Emmanuel, this free concert is set to introduce the audience to the sweet sounds of jazz in a truly funky way. Come to the waterfront from 6:00 to 7:30pm for an unforgettable sunset evening of music, sponsored by the Collective, to kick-start your weekend in a chic way.

A celebrated musician hailing from the French side of St. Martin, Paul Emmanuel has firmly established himself as a prominent figure on the island’s music scene. Having studied at the renowned Berklee College of Music in Boston, Paul’s mastery of the bass guitar is a testament to his talent and dedication. With over two decades of teaching experience at his own music school in Grand Case, Paul has become an influential mentor to aspiring musicians. Unsurprisingly, jazz holds a special place in his heart, which is why he would like to introduce the island to its sweet sounds.

This free concert aims to introduce the audience to the captivating sounds of jazz and serves as a prelude to next year’s jazz festival on the French side.

“I think people can relate more to a beat they know,” says Paul. And that is precisely what Jazz Funk is all about – taking the familiar sounds of calypso, reggae and funk and infusing it with the soulful and captivating sounds of jazz.

Paul Emmanuel will be joined on stage by a talented ensemble of the island’s finest musicians, ensuring an evening of unparalleled musical excellence. The line-up includes Michael Wilson on the guitar, Ali Emmanuel on the sax, Raelvis Perez on the drums, Marita Blijden lending her captivating vocals, and Shawn Wilkinson skilfully playing the piano. In addition to these incredible talents, we are thrilled to welcome special guests Louise Blaise on the piano and Tefari Prevoo Francisco on the violin.

Don’t miss this rare opportunity to witness the magic of Jazz Funk unfold against the backdrop of the Marigot waterfront, bathed in the golden hues of a stunning sunset – free of charge. For more information, contact +590 690 88 36 16. See you there!
