Amstel Bright Volleyball Tournament returns for its 5th Edition!
Beach Volleyball Tournament returns on Saturday, October 25, and Sunday, October 26, transforming the Boardwalk into a vibrant hub of sun, sport and celebration. Set at the Philipsburg Boardwalk Sports Park, right in front of the Pasanggrahan Royal Guest House, the tournament is expected to draw fun crowds and a great line-up of local and regional talent.
This anniversary edition will feature four divisions: Men, Women, Mixed, and Kids (under 16), with top teams battling for cash prizes and, of course, bragging rights. St. Kitts, St. Barths, Anguilla, Guadeloupe and other neighbouring islands will be coming down to compete, all hoping to earn the unofficial but much-celebrated title of “Best Beach Volleyball Team in the region.” With so much skill coming together on the sand, who will take it home is anyone’s guess.
Spectators can expect more than just thrilling competition. The weekend is a full beach experience: Cold Amstel Brights, turquoise waters as a backdrop, lively island energy, and the chance to get close to all the action.
“This tournament is the perfect match between Caribbean beer, beach vibes and sporty fun,” says Zoila Sánchez Contreras, Heineken Brand Marketing Executive. “We are super excited to be celebrating five years – cheers to more Bright moments!”
Jacob Streefkerk of the Sint Maarten Beach Volleyball Association, who is stepping forward to help lead the event this year, says the tournament continues to grow in excitement and popularity.
“Five years is a milestone,” he explains. “This is the first time the Men’s and Women’s open categories are completely full, with just as many female teams as male teams. It shows how much the tournament has grown and how much talent there is across the region. We’re expecting some really exciting matches.”
The excitement continues into Saturday evening when live music takes over after the day’s final game. Once the sun sets, local soca star Magicx and rising DJ Ika will bring a toes-in-the-sand party atmosphere that will continue until 10:00pm, setting just the right tone before Sunday’s finals.
The weekend will culminate with the championship matches and prize-giving, accompanied by an energizing set from DJ Euro – the perfect backdrop for a Bright in hand and a chance to cheer on the island’s top athletes.
