Back with a bang: The Christmas Helping Angels 1000 Gifts Giveaway

The Dance & Arts Dimensions Academy (DADA) is coming back with a bang after the COVID-19 lull, with a bigger and better family fun day. Their 6th annual 1000 Gifts Giveaway is slated for Sunday, December 18! Besides lots of fun and games, free toys for children, and raffles, kids can look forward to a visit from Santa, as well as police officers and firemen that will let the kids check out their trucks. For the first time this year, there is also a costume competition.

With the help of generous sponsors, they’re aiming to give away over 1,000 gifts to kids ages 16 and under (any child can join) and provide a day of fun that is open to everyone. Conceived after Hurricane Irma by DADA Instructors Inga Brown and Gersha Tjaaroeme and Foundation President Jane Hendrickson, the event has grown in popularity over the years, hampered only by the pandemic. This year, they’re going all out!

The whole family can come to enjoy bouncy castles, face painting, a photo booth, fun games, raffles, live entertainment by DJ Richy D and the Seventh Day Adventist Pathfinders drum band. DADA dancers comprising teens and kids as young as five will also show off their skills with dance performances.

The Christmas themed costume competition is open to kids ages three to 12. Three winners will be chosen based on creativity, presentation, and originality.

Santa will make a grand entrance (we won’t tell you how!) and will be giving out gifts and candy. Kids can check out, and even ride on a fire truck or police vehicle, when the firefighters and police officers come to pay a visit.

Snack boxes are available to the kids, and lots of snacks and drinks will be on sale, including Johnny cakes with Christmas ham or cheese, popcorn, hot dogs, pastries and cakes.

The organising team wishes to thank all sponsors, big and small. “It’s been a tough year, but people still want to help,” they told the Out n About.

Sponsors include the SMTA, PDG, Ocean Lounge, SHTA, Xerox, Tropical Shipping, NAPA, UNESCO, Winair, Melange, Captain D’s Rib Shack, HASMA, American University of the Caribbean, Bn’K, Kooyman, Top1Toys, Cost-U-Less, and Holland House.

The Christmas Helping Angels 1000 Gifts Giveaway will take place at Asha Stevens Hillside Christian School in Cay Hill, from 11:00am to 4:30pm on Sunday, December 18. The costume competition runs from 3:30 to 4:30pm.

Registration via Facebook is required for the costume contest. There will be gifts for babies and kids up to 16 years of age. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Parents cannot collect gifts without the child being present. For more information, contact DADA through Facebook@DanceDimensionsA, email at This email address is being protected from spambots.
