A unique brunch experience @ NOLA Bayou Bistro

A unique brunch experience @ NOLA Bayou Bistro

NOLA Bayou Bistro kicked off its exciting Sunday Brunch on Mother’s Day, and it’s only getting better. The hit menu features many of its unique Cajun dishes, adding eggs in any style you like, breakfast favourites, and fresh-off-the-grill specialties. This week, that includes alligator. Yes, a whole alligator has been flown in from Florida, and will be grilled outside in full view. Once it’s cooked to perfection, all NOLA guests will be invited to come out and have a free taste. Like it? Come back for dinner, alligator is a staple on the menu of this New Orleans style restaurant.

New to the delicacy ourselves, The Out n About asked NOLA Manager Jimbo (you’ll remember him from Jimbo’s Restaurant) about the dish, enjoyed across Florida, South Carolina, Texas and Louisiana. “Most of the real tasty and tender meat comes from the tail,” he says, and it “really does taste like chicken.” We’re curious, and we’re in.

NOLA stands for New Orleans, Louisiana, and specialises in the city’s signature cuisines – a blend of Cajun and Creole. The brunch menu includes treats like eggs benedict, florentine, benedict foie-gras, waffles a la mode, and buttermilk pancakes. The outdoor grill also offers “all you can eat” baby back ribs, certified Angus hamburgers, Coney Island hot dogs, and more. Try traditional New Orleans fair such as lobster étouffée , Jambalaya, and a top recommendation, Creole catfish court-bouillon. Top it off with USD $10 mimosas and Bloody Marys.

For those of us with a sweet tooth, typical New Orleans desserts on offer include beignets, bananas foster and a very chocolaty chocolate brownie.

Discover a new dish in this cosy, airy ambiance, with a beautiful lagoon view – perfect for special occassions, lovely dinners, and weekend brunches. Keep an eye out for special events and news from NOLA, there may be a seafood boil in the near future.

NOLA is open for dinner on Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 6:00pm to 10:00pm, and brunch on Sunday from 10:00am to 3:00pm. Located in the Plaza del Lago on the Airport Road in Simpson Bay. Make your reservations today by calling +1 (721) 520-3600 or via Open Table.
